Innovative crypto-based derivatives exchange that gives anyone in the world access to global stock, commodity, and crypto futures markets looking for a Chief Regulatory Officer & General Counsel (New York, Chicago or Palo Alto, CA).

Business mission is to enable fair, transparent and stable access to global futures markets by utilizing blockchain technology and our deep industry experience. The senior leadership is made up of industry experts from AQR, Microsoft, Amazon, Citigroup, and CME. EverMarkets is headquartered in Palo Alto, California with regional offices in Chicago and NYC.

The Chief Regulatory Officer & General Counsel will be responsible for overseeing the regulatory and compliance function of the Exchange and all legal aspects of the Company. In addition, you will be an active member of the international regulatory community keeping abreast of regulatory changes and liaising with international regulators. You will also oversee the application of EMX’s CFTC applications and be responsible for administering the rules of the Exchange once operational.


• Chart the regulatory path to ensure EverMarkets launches prior to the end of 2018

• Oversee the application process to attain Designated Contract Market and Designated Clearing Organization licenses

• Advise management on legal and regulatory strategy regarding business/product planning, structuring, and risk mitigation

• Assemble a global team to oversee the compliance function of the Exchange

• Oversee AML/KYC for the Exchange and the company

• Manage external legal relationships on behalf of the company

• Oversee the legal function including contract review, commercial relationships, company/vendor relationships

• Assist the business in establishing frameworks for expansion of products to new jurisdictions and coordinate local legal support and advice on behalf of the company


• Minimum 10 years experience practicing law

• Previous experience at the CFTC or an Exchange, relationships with key regulators a plus

• Proficiency in cryptocurrencies, and a keen interest to learn more

• Working knowledge of legal and regulatory issues covering financial trading, market structure, payments, cryptocurrencies, and distributed ledgers

• Previous exposure to corporate law and financial markets

• Ambitious and eager to work at an early stage startup with a group of highly motivated and experienced peers

• Experience in advising, driving and negotiating significant commercial agreements
